Two Pho Shops

Pho 45 serves northern-style pho from two dining rooms: one on Garden Grove Boulevard in Garden Grove, the other on La Mirada Boulevard in La Mirada. Garden Grove opens at 8 AM every day and La Mirada at 10 AM.

The Pho

The broth is light and clear rather than sweet. Bowls are numbered on the menu: rare steak with well-done brisket, or brisket with flank and tendon, or meatballs, served with bean sprouts, Thai basil, lime and jalapeño. Ask at Garden Grove for the fresh chili kept in the fridge; it is cold and very hot.

Beyond the pho there are grilled pork spring rolls with peanut sauce, shrimp spring rolls, vermicelli bowls, stir-fried noodles, and rice plates such as com bo luc lac (shaking beef).
